Homework Room 8 Term 2 Week 11

As it is the end of the term, the homework is for the school holidays. Hand in day will still be Tuesdays next term and I will send home new homework on Wednesdays.
Cross Country will continue next term. Please make sure that a change of clothes is brought to school along with suitable running shoes. The junior school syndicate teachers will not let children run in bare feet unless a note is brought from school. There are a lot of prickles in the paddock and a lot of mud.

• A reminder that this Thursday 14th July is the Junior School Disco.
• This Friday 15th July Room 8 is sharing an item at the whole school assembly. It would be great to see you at assembly watching all of Room 8!

 Have a wonderful holiday and stay safe! I look forward to seeing refreshed faces next term! 

Reading
Throughout the holidays make sure you read with your child – a picture book or chapter book they’re reading is perfect! It is about building fluency and confidence with reading.

Maths
Please see the small knowledge sheet that is in your child’s book. This is knowledge which is important for your child to know in order to further understanding in maths.

Basic facts practice is also important – try using flash cards at home to learn them instantly.

Handwriting
I have sent home specific worksheets which are relevant to the letters of the alphabet that your child has difficulty writing. Continuous repetition of writing these letters will help your child in remembering how to write them. Please encourage them to keep practising.

Homework Room 8 Term 2 Week 10

As I was away the majority of last week, your child may not have been bringing home as many readers as they usually would. I apologise for this, I had two funerals to go to - I would have much rather been with the beautiful children in Room 8!
A reminder that training has begun for cross country. Please ensure that your child brings a change of clothes and suitable shoes for this. I will be enforcing this strongly with the children and consequences will result. If your child is not fit to run please write them a note to excuse them.
Next Thursday 14th July is the Junior School Disco. I will give further details as I receive them.
Have a fantastic week!

Reading
Readers each week, please ensure the sheet at the back of your child’s homework book is filled out. It is also an excellent idea to read a book together as a family.

Maths
Please see the small knowledge sheet that is in your child’s book. For many, the knowledge will take a while to consolidate as we are still focusing on them in the classroom.

Spelling
This week we are focusing the sound ‘sc’. Brainstorm as many words that have ‘sc’ in it.

Circle the words that have the short o vowel sound (Clue: remember ‘o is for orange’)

pot octopus otter
