Homework Room 8 Term 1 Week 6 Group 2

Dear Parents,
Thank you for helping your children with their homework last week – it was wonderful to see so many returned. You will find at the back of your child’s homework a book a sheet for you to fill in their readers that they have read with you at home. Could you please fill this out for the week and I will check it on a Monday when I mark the homework. You would have seen a list of high frequency words that I sent home with your child. If you would like me to email you a copy of these in flash-card form for you to use at home, please feel free to email me.
A reminder that there is a working bee coming up on March 12th at 9am – help would be appreciated for our gardens.


This week in Room 8 we are focusing on the blend ‘dr’. On the line below please get your child to practise writing the blend ‘dr’.

Get your child to brainstorm as many words with the blend ‘dr’ with you. This is to be completed in their homework books.

This week your child has 5 spelling words to learn (keep learning the words from last week if you need to). Your child needs to be able to read the word and spell the word. The spelling words are:
fire date seem dart done


MATHS
Please get your child to learn the basic facts to10. After testing recently, it became evident that the students in Room 8 found it hard to instantly recall basic facts to 10. This is something we need to work on. If your child has trouble working out the answer, do not hesitate to use materials (counters or spoons!) to help them.
Eg 1 + 9 = ___ 8 + 2 = ____ 7 + 3 = _____
6 + 4 = ____ 5 +5 = ____ 9 + 1 = ____
I know the children love Mathletics; this is a great tool for improving your child’s maths knowledge and skills.
